Are you free sometime soon? And-or would you be willing to act as a watch while Valdis and I try something out.

[ He isn't trying to be coy, just hoping to see how much she knows of what Valdis can actually do without giving it away himself. ]

[There's a noticeable pause.]

What are you intending to try out?

Something possibly dangerous that she'd need to practice before using on anyone else.

[ There's a slight exhale. ]

So you see why I volunteered. She said you have an idea about her powers?

[ruinsprofessor]

Yes, I can see why.

[Raine still has reservations.]

I'm aware of many of her capabilities, yes. I sincerely doubt I know the full breadth of them, however.

It's okay to say no if you don't want to.

[A quiet sigh.]

No; I'd rather be there, if it's something potentially dangerous to one or both of you.

Very little is actually dangerous to me.

[ And it does have echoes of self-importance and bragging, but mostly it's just the truth. Something people might say, but don't quite believe. Cain not only believes it, he knows it. ]

But I'm glad, anyway.

[That doesn't mean it's a good idea; the Void makes everything strange.]

Do you know what, exactly, she plans to attempt?

Something along the lines of looking into my soul.

[ said casually, like this should be normal. To Cain, it's anything but... except he could say that about almost everything here. ]

I'm not convinced it's a good idea, given that which accompanies her, but if she can gain control of the skill...

I'm willing to supervise the attempt, at any rate.

[So she can help if anything goes wrong.]

[It's not a no, but Raine's reticent, and wants to keep this as private as possible.]
